Description
The Carolina Reaper Chili is the fieriest of the hot chillies!!! It has held the world record for the world`s hottest chili since 2013. It was bred by the Chili breeder Ed Currie from the PuckerButt Pepper Company in South Carolina (USA). The average heat level tested by the Chile Pepper Institute lay at 1.569.300 Scoville Units, while individual specimens brought it up to an incredible 2.2. million SHU. The name “Reaper” refers to the “Grim Reaper”, the mythical bringer of death.
The taste of the Carolina Reaper chillies is – in addition to being extremely hot – very flavourful and fruity-sweet, with chocolate-cherry under tone and a hint of citrus. It goes particularly well with dark meat, whether it`s beef or game, but also goes well with tomato dishes or paprika sauce. Please do not underestimate the heat, people who are unused to hot chillies should not attempt to try it.
Soak the whole dried chillies in hot water for 10 minuntes to rehydrate, then dice or puree and add to a recipe, or add directly to recipe that will cook at least 10 minutes.
Production Info
We have our Carolina Reaper chillies cultivated by a contract farmer, so we have influence on the whole production process, in particular the quality. The freshly harvested chillies are gently dried. In this way, the flavours are almost completely retained.
